Eurofins Food Integrity & Innovation Setting Standard in Hemp-Derived Cannabinoid Testing
Cannabinoid method receives AOAC First Action Status

MADISON, WI – A pioneering testing method developed to identify the potency of industrial hemp cannabinoids has been named a standard method for the industry. The ISO-accredited method, developed by Eurofins Food Integrity & Innovation, was granted first action method status recently by AOAC’s Expert Review Panel.

The status indicates that that method met strict requirements set by the standards organization. “I am incredibly proud of the work done to develop this method,” said Ross Gulotta, President, Food Integrity & Innovation. “It is exciting to know that the data produced from this method will help this rapidly growing industry be more confident that the data they are receiving is accurate and of the highest quality.”

The CBD and Industrial Hemp industry has been working toward standardized approaches to analytical testing of its products. Standardized methods are used in many food and supplement industries to prove quality standards and various compliance criteria are being met. This first action method is a substantial step in that direction for the cannabinoid and hemp oil industry.

The method developed Food Integrity & Innovation can quantify 12 cannabinoids at low levels. It meets the regulatory requirements for THC and ensures a company can quantify other minor cannabinoids in their proprietary and specialty products and strains. Specifically, the method is applicable to the quantification of cannabidiol, cannabidiolic acid, cannabinol, delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, tetrahydrocannabinolic acid, cannabichromene, cannabidivarinic acid, cannabigerol, cannabigerolic acid, cannabidivarin, delta-8-tetrahydrocannabinol, and tetrahydrocannabivarin indried plant materials, oils, and tinctures.
