Welcome to the National Hemp Association’s In Conversation Series where we highlight our business members and affiliates.

In this installment, NHA Executive Director, Erica Stark, interviews Michael Woods of Black Buffalo 3D

The Future of Construction is Green!

Black Buffalo 3D is a global provider of 3D printers for construction and proprietary cement-based ink. Their CEO & COO, Michael Woods is a seasoned financial executive dedicated to supporting innovative technologies that create viable sustainable replacements for carbon-intensive manufacturing inputs and practices.

In this fascinating interview we dive into the world of 3D construction and the role that hemp can play in the future. Black Buffalo is serious about making structural hemp concrete a reality. While that may be a few years away, we also discuss the ways that hemp can be used now in their 3D printed buildings and the strangely similar infrastructure issues both hemp and 3D printing technology are facing.

Michael said, “All this takes time and the secret to any new technology or advocacy of an issue is consistency and tenacity. Don’t get discouraged along this wonderful journey we are taking together. Keep the pace. Let’s keep moving everything forward. We’re going to have hiccups, we’re going to have bumps, we’re going to break a lot of stuff, it’s going to cost us a lot of money – but at the end of the day – it’s going to help so many people to get this right.”

And after all, isn’t that what all of this has always been about?
